"I was too scared to return to Nollywood"Actor RMD reveals
Nollywood star actor Richard Mofe Damijo popularly called RMD was one of the leading faces in Nigerian movie until about a decade ago when he quit the movie industry for greener pastures. He delved into politics where he made a lot of money as a Special Adviser to Delta State Governor Uduaghan as Commissioner for Tourism.Ofcourse after his tenure ended in 8 years,he was faced with the harsh reality of tracing back his passion to its roots, Nollywood.A place where he held sway as the undisputed king of the screen but relinquished that status to delve into other ventures. However, his return was magical as he instantly shot himself back into movies and became hotter than he was.His very first movie after his 8 years break was the multi million naira block buster movie titled 30 Days in Atlanta produced by popular comedian AY. And after that flick, more kept coming in as he now ranks as one of the hottest in the industry once more. The fame , ednorsment and money has also tripplked. The veteran actor took to his page today to reveal how difficult it was for him to launch back. In his words,
Let's take some time to revisit the "you're too old to go for your dreams" myth. Yea, it's a myth and if anyone tries to convince you otherwise, tell them to take a good look at me. I left the scene (my dreams) for EIGHT YEARS...8 years in the entertainment industry is a life time, trust me, so I call it EIGHT LONG YEARS of being away from my dreams.
Contrary to what a lot of you think and/or believe, when it was time for me to return to my dreams, I was scared, worried, uncertain, had doubts, questions and fears but hey, I went to the rock that is higher than I (God). I went to
Him in humility and sincerity... The thing you call swag, sex appeal, charisma...you name it, is the GLORY OF GOD...It is by His special grace that at 55 rapidly going on 56, I am blessed to live my dreams in health and sound mind.
Today, I encourage you to conquer your fears, worries, doubts, uncertainties and go with God. Go for your dreams... it's never too late to start, never too late to try again.
