Pictures of Imigrants stepping over bodies in desperate bid for survival In Libyan Coast

More than 28 bodies have been recovered and more than 4,650 migrants rescued in 30 rescue operations in the Mediterranean Sea off the Libyan coast, reports say. Shocking images captured onboard a migrant boat shows dead bodies laying around as desperate migrants struggle to flee to safety.

A boat carrying around 1,800 people was sighted in the Mediterranean 12 miles off the coast of Libya. Some resorted to jumping overboard while one drowning father tried to fling his baby to safety. The coast guard said the migrants on Tuesday were rescued from 33 boats, including 27 rubber dinghies.

This brings the total rescued in the last 48 hours to more than 10,000 refugees, and the death toll to 50 as people smugglers take advantage of relatively calm weather to push boats to sea. Many of those rescued are Nigerian migrants.

Among them are Abdul, Sandy, Ibrahim and 26-year-old Frances and her baby girl, born yesterday night. They have disembarked in Palermo, Italy and now undergoing identification process
